The starting point for the hike is the Plätzwiese car park at an elevation of 1,979 meters.
During the summer months, a shuttle bus takes you up from Brückele/Prags between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm. If you’d like to make an earlier start, before 9:30 am, the road to Plätzwiese can also be accessed by private car for a toll – as long as parking spaces are available. (Tip: check the traffic restrictions in the Prags Valley between July 10 and September 10.)
From Plätzwiese, the hike initially follows a forest road to the Plätzwiese hut. There, bear right and follow the signs across fields and through woodland. The trail first wends its way through woodland before becoming increasingly rocky, gaining elevation along the impressive rock faces of the Dolomites. After about two hours, the Geiselleiten mountain path leads to a short section secured by a rope. Although not particularly difficult, surefootedness and a head for heights are required. After approximately 2.5 hours, you reach the scenic Rossalm.
The descent follows a steep forest road before the final section of the hike leads through gentle terrain to the Brückele car park, where you left your car or the shuttle bus departs.
