Lake Sorapis is one of the most famous mountain lakes in the Dolomites, and its turquoise-blue water is truly unique. The hike starts at Passo Tre Croci, near Misurina. Initially, the trail leads through meadows before turning into a gravel path, which is flat at first but gradually becomes steeper. Shortly before reaching the lake, you reach a narrow section secured with ropes which runs along a rock face. In high summer, when large numbers of hikers are on the trail, this passage can feel a little crowded. The path then continues upwards over metal steps. Hikers then arrive at the stunning turquoise lake, which nestles picturesquely among the rugged peaks of the Dolomites. The lake’s unique color comes from its high limestone content. The descent follows the same route back.
