The famous Lake Braies serves as the starting point for this challenging hut hike. (Tip: check the traffic restrictions in the Prags Valley between July 10 and September 10.)
At the far end of the lake, follow trail marker no. 1 and ascend over a rocky scree. As this section is exposed to a lot of sun, an early start is recommended during the summer months. After the rocky ascent, the trail leads into a shaded forest path until you finally reach the tree line.
Continuing between rocks and mountain pines, you make your way toward the hut – if you’re lucky, you might even spot an ibex. Upon reaching the hut, the valley opens up, revealing stunning views of the vast Sennes Nature Park and the impressive Belluno Dolomites.
For those with energy left, the hike can be extended by an hour to reach the summit of the Seekofel.
As alternative you can hike down through the Grünwald Valley.
Starting point: Lake Braies car park (27 km from the hotel)
