The Gsies Valley is also known as the valley of alpine huts, and with so many options, choosing a hiking tour can be difficult. For this hike, you start in St. Magdalena at the end of the valley. Drive along the Pater-Steinmair-Weg until you reach the end of the road, where the last parking opportunity is located. From there, continue hiking along the forest road towards the valley’s end. At this point, you have the choice of staying on the gravel path or switching to the narrower “Eichhörnchenweg” (squirrel trail). This route first passes by the Kradorfer Alm, and on the way back, you return via the forest road past the Messner hut. The two huts are only a short walk apart.
Starting point: Talschluss (valley end) car park, St. Magdalena/Gsies (31 km from the hotel)
