The Kristall: developing with love since 1977
Above the rooftops of Olang, in the heart of the Dolomites: the Kristall – our family project that has been created with heart, dedication and a clear vision over five decades. Every generation has left its mark, every transformation has been another step towards quality and authenticity. These days, we combine tradition with modern comfort, and hospitality with individual moments. The milestones in our hotel’s history
1969
Acquisition of the Marchner ski lodge
1977
On December 18, Paul and Frieda Erlacher, together with their three children Dietmar, Oskar and Dagmar, open the Hotel Kristall – with 18 rooms, a swimming pool and a sauna.
1990
Dietmar takes over his in-laws’ business in Vals.
1993
Elevation from 3-star to 4-star hotel.
1999
Major renovation: new bar, dining room, kitchen, lounge area and office. Creation of a wellness center with three saunas and an outdoor jacuzzi.
2007
Construction of the Dagmar building with three apartments.
2008
Oskar takes over the management of the hotel.
2013
Renovation of the original rooms.
2016
Extensive renovation: new dining room, bar, lounge, relaxation room, beauty department and new rooms.
2017
Farewell of hotel founder Paul Erlacher.
Renovation of the reception and office.
2018
Renovation of the buffet room.
2019
Son Niklas joins the family business.
2020
Renovation of the relaxation rooms.
2022
Glass balconies, wooden flooring and glass fronts are added to the rooms.
2023
Renovation of the ski room.
2024
Renovation of the sauna area with new relaxation room and jacuzzi.
2025
Daughter Isabel joins the family business.
Construction of the TechnoGym fitness suite on the roof terrace.
