The hike starts at Lake Braies. (Important: check the traffic restrictions in the Prags Valley between July 10 and September 10.) As you stroll along, you walk past the Hotel Pragser Wildsee on your right. A narrow path runs along the edge of the woodland, passing a picturesque farm. After a short while, you reach a forest road, which you exit immediately to the left. From there, follow the AVS trail until you cross the forest road again after about a kilometer. Next, bear right for a bracing ascent along a steep section. After approximately 30 minutes, you reach the Kühwiesen, a magnificent alpine meadow which is covered with colorful flowers in the summer months. The last half hour of the hike leads across the meadows before you wend your way through the forest once more. Shortly before the summit, bear right and catch sight of the rustic, moss-covered summit cross.
Despite its relatively modest height of 2,140 meters, the summit offers an impressive panorama: surrounded by the Dolomite peaks on one side and the vast Puster Valley with the imposing Rieserferner peaks on the other.
The return route follows the same path back. Alternatively, you can head north via the Brunstalm to St. Veit in the Prags Valley, from where a bus service takes you back to the car park at Lake Braies.
Starting point: Lake Braies car park (27 km from the hotel)
