The hike starts very leisurely at the Berggasthaus Karbach mountain inn, where you initially walk along a forest road heading into the valley. At the Schäfer Alm, the forest road becomes steeper, and you follow it until the next bend, where a narrow path branches off. The path then climbs steeply through woodland alongside a stream, quickly gaining elevation. After a while, you continue on the forest road until it ends. Here, a path starts that leads up the grassy slope to the ridge. Once you’ve reached the height of the summit, the trail continues almost level until the large summit cross stands at the end of the path. The return journey follows the same route as the ascent.
