Would you like to experience the Tre Cime di Lavaredo from a truly special perspective? Then hike up the Strudelkopf in the Pragser Valley – a rewarding and easy tour, ideal for the whole family.
The starting point of the hike is the Plätzwiese parking lot at an elevation of 1,979 meters. During the summer months, a shuttle bus brings you up from Brückele/Prags between 9:30 AM and 4:00 PM. Before 9:30 AM, the road to Plätzwiese can also be accessed by private car for a toll fee, if parking spaces are available. (Important: Check the traffic restrictions in the Pragser Valley between July 10 and September 10.)
From the hut Plätzwiese, follow the hiking trail to the left until you reach a junction and follow the signs leading to Strudelkopf. The trail winds through meadows, runs alongside a small stream, and eventually merges into a wider gravel path. Follow this path until you reach a ruin, where another signpost awaits, where you can already spot the summit cross. Almost there! Upon reaching the summit, a breathtaking panorama of the Dolomites unfolds. For the descent you can follow the same route backwards. Alternatively, you can take a slightly exposed path down from the ruin to the Dürrenstein hut and then return to the parking lot via the forest road.
