Sorapis Lake is one of the most famous mountain lakes in the Dolomites, and its turquoise-blue water is truly unique.
The hike starts at Passo Tre Croci, near Misurina. Initially, the trail leads through meadows before transitioning into a gravel path, which is flat at first but gradually becomes steeper. Shortly before reaching the lake, there is a narrow section secured with a rope, running along a rock face. Especially in high summer, when many hikers are on the trail, this passage can feel a bit tight. Afterward, the path continues upward via metal staircases. Finally, hikers arrive at the stunning turquoise lake, which is picturesquely nestled among the rugged Dolomite peaks. The lake's unique color comes from its high limestone content. The descent follows the same route back.
