The hike starts at the Pares hiking car park. First, follow either the forest road or the steeper hiking trail up to the Ciampcios hut. From there, continue on the gravel road uphill to the Kreuzjoch.

Passing the Medalges hut, turn right, and a narrow path leads uphill across the meadow slopes. The path to the Medalges summit is not marked – at a trail junction in the path, stay left, and the last few meters to the summit follow a faint trail.

The small iron summit cross stands just before the drop-off to the north. From here, an impressive view opens up of the Peitlerkofel, the Zillertal Alps, the Rieserferner Group, and the Dolomites – a view that invites you to linger and dream.

The descent follows the same path.
