The hike begins at Lake Braies.(Important: Check the traffic restrictions in the Pragser Valley between July 10 and September 10.) A narrow path runs along the edge of the forest, passing by a picturesque farm. After a short while, you reach a forest road, which you leave immediately to the left. From here, follow the AVS trail until you cross the forest road again after about a kilometer. Now, turn right and ascend quickly along a steep section. After approximately 30 minutes, you reach the Kühwiesen, a magnificent alpine meadow that is covered with colorful flowers in the summer months. The last half hour of the hike leads across the meadows before winding through the forest once more. Shortly before the summit, turn right and catch sight of the rustic, moss-covered summit cross.
Despite its relatively modest height of 2140 meters, the summit offers an impressive panorama: surrounded by the Dolomite peaks on one side and the vast Puster Valley with the imposing Rieserferner peaks on the other.
The return route follows either the same path back or alternatively head north via the Brunstalm to St. Veit in the Pragser Valley, from where a public bus returns to the parking lot at Lake Braies.
