The small, quaint village of Rein in Taufers is the starting point for this popular hike. One follows the forest road, always staying to the right along the rushing stream. As the valley narrows, the hut is seen for the first time. Continuing further into the valley, it opens up again, and the path initially leads flatly along the valley floor before briefly going up a bit steeper. Passing by an idyllic alpine settlement, you will finally reach the picturesque Knutten hut

For those who wish to continue further, an additional 350 meters of elevation can be covered by continuing along the forest road. It becomes a bit steeper and leads up to Klammlsee and further to Klammljoch.
