From Sand in Taufers (878 m) follow the signs to "Schloss Taufers" (Taufers Castle) over a covered wooden bridge to the opposite side of the Ahr and then up to Taufers Castle (950 m; guided tours) in about 20 minutes on the Burgweg (castle path), which rises through the steep slopes. Then follow the marker 2 A first on a wide road to the castle café and almost level through meadows and past a farm to a fork in the road; now follow the marker 10/2A on the paved path up to the edge of a meadow under a farm, cross to a small road, on this slightly downhill to almost the Reintalstraße. Shortly before, turn left and then always on the footpath (past a farm) more or less level to the Toblhof inn (from Taufers Castle approx. 1 hour, from the starting point approx. 1:30 hour). From there on a good path through the forest over to the fork in the path, left on the "Franziskusweg" path in about 10 minutes uphill to the ruins of the Kofelburg with the castle chapel (1172 m), then back to the fork in the path, briefly down a staircase to the bridge over the gorge (on the left the mighty third waterfall), then on the good forest path down to the second and first waterfall; from there on a wide forest path out to the houses of Winkel (862 m) and on the Ahr dam path back to the starting point
