Natural Park Fanes

After about 3 km walk from St. Kassian in Abtei Valley up to Valparola Pass you reach the junction for Capanna Alpina (1726 m). Follow the path on your right (past the gravel pit) to Capanna Alpina. Continue on track 11 through spruce forests and little meadows (Plan de Furcia). Then the trail becomes steeper till Col de Locia (2069 m). From there there the trail leads you through the depressed area of the rocks of Fanes, the Camperstring Range, and the Les Conturines until you reach Ju dell`Egna. The path continues rather flat to Fanes Refuge (2060 m). Walking time until Fanes Refuge is about 3 hours. The hike continues on a light ascent to Lake Limo (2159 m) and Limo Joch (highest point of this tour). Back to Fanes Refuge the suggested descent is track 7 via Lake Piciodel. After a steep descent the tour ends at Pederü Refuge, Rau Valley (1548 m).
